An American in Uruguay gets a special tour Dianne took her first
trip to Argentina, and...
"I was in Buenos Aires, visiting an old friend, when we decided to take
a trip across the river to Uruguay. We got on a ferry boat for Colonia, a city
over 300 years old, settled by the Portugese and Spanish. It's lovely, with
handmade tiles on the roofs and cobblestone streets laid in intricate patterns.
We were escorted to a restaurant for lunch, and noticed a large dog curled up
outside the restaurant when we arrived. Once we left the restaurant, the dog
joined us and we soon realized that he was actually leading our walking tour. He
walked ahead of the tour guide and knew exactly where we were going, pausing at
all of the points of interest as she explained about the history.
At one point our paths separated, and we lost sight of the dog. We were
getting on the tour bus heading back toward our boat when we passed the
restaurant where we'd had lunch. There was our canine tour guide, sleeping in
his original spot, no doubt waiting for the next busload of tourists to
arrive."
