An American in Germany hears a song Carolyn lives in Southern
California.
"I was in Munich with a German friend and a French friend. The night was
warm and pleasant, we were out walking and decided to have some ice cream at an
outdoor cafe.
We had a great time swapping stories and were soaking up the ambiance of
Munich when without any warning a nicely dressed, handsome and very drunk young
man appeared in the doorway of the cafe. He was singing
I love Paris in the springtime
I love Paris in the fall
and so forth, in English. His friends were trying to hustle him out of there,
and they were speaking perfect German. The group walked on down the street, with
their leading singing about Paris.
I thought it odd to be sitting in a cafe in Germany with a German, a
Frenchman and an American hearing a drunk German guy sing about Paris in
English. That's one of those sights you just don't find in the guidebooks or
tourist pamphlets."
