The Safe Travel Book
by Peter Savage
240 pages Revised edition (October 1999)
This is a must-read. Mr Savage covers every aspect of international travel
from the point of view of the safety expert. We bought the first edition.
We bought the second edition. We have given copies as wedding presents.
Since the terrorist attack of Sept 11, 2001, the advice offered by Mr
Savage on dealing with hijackers is obsolete. The book is now out of
print. The rest of the book offers sound advice, so if you can get a copy
used or from an out-of-print source it is well worth acquiring. Our hopes
are that a new, updated third edition is in the works and, if so, will be
offered in this space.

Trouble-Free Travel ... and What To Do When Things Go Wrong
by Attorneys Stephen D Colwell & Ann R. Shulman
352 pages 2nd edition (Sept. 1998)
Nolo Press
Nolo Press continues its fine tradition of legal topics written in lay
language. Know your rights as a travel consumer and be able to politely
and firmly insist on being respected in questionable situations. More
important, know when you must back down and do so gracefully.
