If you have suggestions, comments or questions about your passport
application, www.PassportInfo.com or about international travel in
general, I am happy to help. I am thoroughly convinced of the value of
international travel and want to do everything I can to smooth the way
for you.
Note: My old address, webmaster @ passportinfo.com, has been receiving too much
spam and too many viruses. That address has been discontinued. Please use
my current address hijk at passportinfo
dot com. This address will change periodically in an attempt to keep
spam and virus traffic out. To increase the chances that I will actually
see your e-mail, please write in plain text. I habitually delete HTML
formated messages unopened and unread, since 99.9% of them are spam.
Remember, this is a privately authored website. I am not a government
official. All content on this website as well as anything you receive
from us via e-mail is informal and unofficial advice. There is no charge
for this unofficial, informal advice.
If you send me an e-mail, I use your e-mail address only to
return a response to your inquiry. I do not send out broadcast messages nor
do I share your e-mail address with any third party. Period. I hate
spam as much as you do. I routinely delete spam without reading it.
Since I cannot give you any specific information about your
application, do not send your full legal name, passport
number, social security number or any other personal information in your
e-mail request. Any requests for specific application status will result in
a referral to the official
National Passport Information Center.
Some of the revenue from this website comes from your purchasing books
through the Amazon.Com links. I like Amazon.Com. I've bought lots of
books from them and have never had a single problem. If you find this
website to be of use to you, we would be much obliged if you would have a
look at the travel books pages and should you be inclined to buy a travel
guidebook, or anything else, click to
Amazon.Com through this website.
The vast majority of the questions I receive are along the following
lines:
"I sent in my passport application and am wondering when I will
receive it in the mail."
Anyone who has questions about the status of their application will be
advised to call the
National Passport Information Center. They have a direct computer connection to the
US State Dept's passport issuance
system. They call is now free to the calling party. Many web visitors have been sent to the NPIC and have given
me
positive feedback (with one exception). Please see the official State Dept
NPIC website for exact
details as to the phone number. The toll-free system just started in
August, 2003.
I also receive the occasional:
"I am a citizen of another country and want to know how to get a US
passport."
Only US Citizens can get US passports. Use your own country's passport
for international travel.
And:
"I have a Conch Republic Passport. The guy who sold me the
Conch Republic Passport told me I could use it to enter the United States."
Sorry, but you are a victim of fraud as the so-called
Conch Republic passports are simply tourist souvenirs from the Florida Keys.
They are not valid travel documents. When you enter the United States, including the Florida Keys, you will
have to have official travel documents from your own country, plus a US
visa or visa waiver. The "Conch Republic" is not an independent nation. It
is part of the State of Florida and fully covered by US Immigration law.
