Dallas/Fort Worth

Pre-registering foreign goods before departing for an international trip

Information from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport:

You may register your items any day before your departure; in fact, depending on how many items you have to register, you may wish to take care of that ahead of time anyway. I understand the process only takes about 10 minutes, but with several items, at a busy time of day, it would take longer.

You may visit the Customs offices at either Terminal A (6:00 am - 9:00 pm every day) or Terminal B (from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm every day). The afternoon time is when these locations are busiest, with the morning being the least busy.

Once you arrive at the Customs areas (which are located at the last entrance of each terminal, near Gate A35 and B35), it is not necessary to go through the security checkpoint. Rather, look for a white paging phone and dial 4-2130 (for Terminal B) or 4-2131 (for Terminal A), and a Customs official will come out to assist you (You are not allowed to walk directly to the Customs area unescorted).

If you have further questions, you may contact the Customs offices at Terminal A at 972-574-2131 or at Terminal B at 972-574-2130.

This is a MUST READ for international travelers. It concerns protecting yourself from pickpockets and other scam artists.
